Hi, my name is Joshua Belton and I am 9 years old. I am an explorer, naturalist and enjoy collecting things from nature. I have a brother, Jacob who is 4 years old and a dog named Scruffy. I used to have Stick Insects and a couple of Yabbies. I am hoping to get a Blue Tongue Lizard and a Rainforest Mantis.
My interests include collecting bones, fossils, rocks and anything from nature. I have been collecting ever since I could pick things up. I love lizards, snakes and insects and would like to have my own reptile centre one day; specialising in Australian species. I homeschool, which gives me lots of opportunities to explore and make discoveries with nature.
I currently live in the Australian Capital Territory, but I have also lived in Melbourne, Wodonga, Darwin, Toowoomba and Point Lonsdale. Now we are packing our things into storage and are about to go on our next adventure travelling around Australia.
I found my first fossil when I was five years old, when rock pooling at a beach. That is when I became interested in starting a fossil collection. I saved my money and bought my first fossil collection, which included several pieces; with my favourites being a Trilobite and Sarcosuchus tooth.
I have Indigenous heritage, my great great grandmother on my Dad's side was Aboriginal. I love my history and have a natural interest in Aboriginal traditions. The Dreamtime stories, stones tools they used, the food they foraged and hunted. I'm hoping to start a collection of pieces when we return home as well as see some Aboriginal sites on our trip.

My favourite toys are Legos, Beast War Transformers as well as Papo and Safari mythical creatures. I am curious and enjoy tinkering with electronics and robotics. My favourite computer game is Minecraft, actually it's the only game I play. I mostly enjoy board games with my new favourite being Forbidden Desert.
I find anything from Ancient Egypt fascinating and especially enjoy the mythology about the Egyptian gods. My favourite god is Thoth. We went for a trip to Sydney to look at a few Egyptian displays which inspired us to make our own Mummy and Sarcophagus.
My favourite places to go here in the ACT are the Canberra Reptile Centre, Questacon, Bird Aviary and I love the Zoo, especially the Shark tank. We also go to the National Dinosaur Museum a lot because my brother Jacob loves Dinosaurs, more than me.
