Adelaide was our next capital city, where we visited the South Australian Museum and Zoo. At the Zoo we saw the Giant Panda for the first time.
Giant Pandas live in the bamboo forests and need to eat for more than 10 hours a day to receive the nutrition they need.
This Giant Panda stopped eating when he saw he had visitors. He watched us as much as we watched him.
Malayan Tapir is nocturnal and lives in the rainforest near permanent water. It’s able to swim well.
We were fortunate to get to feed quite a few animals in the zoo including the Sea Otters.
During winter, American Alligators hibernate and become sluggish because their whole body slows down. They make a den tunnel for shelter during the cold.
We had lunch at the cafe with the Giant Tortoises. They sat next to us with only the fence between; very close!
The zoo had an animal farm and feeding for kids. This one Jacob loved. A small and friendly Bettong.
I enjoyed the chickens. She was very comfortable with me holding her.
A sleepy Sea Lion. They are found only in Australian waters and it is estimated that they number only 13,000 and decreasing.
