Aquarium of Western Australia

We are now in Perth. There were many things to do here such as the Museum, Aquarium, Zoo, Sci-Tech and Planetarium. We loved all of them. One of the first things we did was a visit to the Aquarium of Western Australia.

This is Jacob, Dad and I in the Shipwreck Coast Tunnel. We went through the tunnel quite a few times.

Beautiful large stingrays cruised around in the tunnel.

A close up view of the mouth of the stingray.

Loggerhead Turtles in the tunnel too. This is a close up view of his head. I would like to find a skull of this species washed up on the beach.

Jacobs favourite Moray Eel. It has 1 to 3 rows of needle sharp teeth.

This touch tank was a large pool size with Port Jackson Sharks to feel. How cool is that! Jacob was excited to touch one too.

They felt different to what I was expecting, rough instead of smooth.

They feed on hard shelled molluscs, crustaceans, sea urchins and fish. Unlike many other shark species, they do not need to move through the water to breath and can lie on the bottom for long periods of time.
