Sapphire Coast Marine Discovery Centre

One of the things Jacob and I had been looking forward to on our trip was visiting the marine discovery centres. They usually have touch tanks. The Sapphire Coast Marine Discovery Centre in Eden had a small touch tank but many other wonderful things to discover.

This is Jacob holding an amazing fish skull that was siting near the entrance.

This is Dad showing Jacob and I a large Pencil Sea Urchin

I was having a good look at its mouth. The touch table had a few of the spines to look at that had washed up on the shore.

This was my favourite creature in the touch tank, an Elephant Snail. I hadn’t seen one before.

They are completely black when in the water untouched, but reveal their white shell when disturbed.

This is only a small section of the touch table, some I have, some I don’t. Great beach combing finds that people bring in, even a Seal skull.
